Vampire Bridal Portaits
By Kyle Blackwell, Bridal + Wedding Photographer
Hello fellow photography enthusiasts and curious readers! Allow me to take you on a thrilling journey into the realm of immortal love, where shadows and passion intertwine. In article, I'll share the captivating experience of doing a vampire/gothic-themed bridal portrait session, as seen through the lens of a photographer.
A Unique Vision Takes Shape
Every photoshoot begins with a vision, and this one was unlike any other I’ve done. Alexia, a soon to be bride, and a remarkably creative individual, shared her dream with us about embracing a vampire/gothic themed bridal shoot. The allure of gothic romance and the timeless beauty of immortal love captured my attention, and I was honored to be part of her journey. We embarked on a creative endeavor that would forever immortalize her love story.
Choosing the Perfect Venue
Selecting the right location was paramount to bring our dark bridal vision to life. We opted for a house that had tall ceilings, a winding staircase, elegant decor, and a lush outdoor area. The chosen home belonged to a relative and provided us with all our setting requests (and then some!).
The Bride's Transformation
Alexia, arrived on location a few hours before sunset with dress, shoes, make-up, and accessories ready to go. Her bridal attire was a masterpiece of Gothic elegance – a black lace gown adorned with intricate details that exuded both darkness and sensuality. The makeup was skillfully crafted painting of smoky eyes and bold lips, perfectly complementing her captivating features. All these dark tones were off set by her bright blue and black hair which provided the perfect pop of color.
Embracing the Darkness
The bride's unconventional dark attire coupled with floral themes added an extra layer of intrigue to the portraits. The location’s candlelit corridors served as the perfect backdrop, casting enchanting shadows that emphasized the timeless theme. The outdoor garden wall served as a beautiful background for creating an eerie almost garden/graveyard like look. A beautiful bath tub with an overhanging chandelier was a bonus location perfect for a more sensual vintage look.
Conclusion: Immortalizing Love Beyond the Ordinary
In the realm of bridal portraits, this vampire/gothic-themed session was more than a creative endeavor; it was an exploration of love's capacity to transcend convention. The bride's unique vision and her love story, immortalized through our lens, remind us that love knows no boundaries. It challenges us to break free from the conventional and embrace the extraordinary. As photographers, our mission is to capture the essence of love, no matter how unconventional or otherworldly it may be. Off with the old notions of traditional bridal portraits, and in with the mesmerizing possibilities of immortalizing love in all its unique forms.
